\nPhnom Penh, Cambodia | 30 October 2026<\/p>\n

CamboDHRRA, in collaboration with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), relevant government institutions, agricultural cooperatives, digital service providers, and development partners, successfully organised a consultation and learning workshop under the Smallholders Economic Empowerment through Digital Solution (SEEDS) Project at Hotel Cambodiana, Phnom Penh.<\/p>\n

The workshop provided an important platform to reflect on the achievements, experiences, and lessons learned from SEEDS implementation in Cambodia, while exploring practical pathways to transition from project-supported pilot activities towards sustainable and institutionalised digital agricultural services at the agricultural cooperative level.
\nThe event brought together representatives from government institutions, agricultural cooperatives, Digital Agricultural Arrowheads (DAAs), technology service providers, and development partners to exchange knowledge, showcase practical solutions, and discuss opportunities for integrating digital agriculture into cooperative operations and broader agricultural development frameworks.<\/p>\n

Key Highlights of the Workshop
\n1. SEEDS Project Achievements and Lessons Learned
\nThe workshop reviewed the project’s implementation progress, geographical coverage, engagement with agricultural cooperatives, capacity development of DAAs, key achievements, and contributions to advancing digital agriculture in Cambodia. Discussions also highlighted practical lessons and opportunities for sustaining and expanding the project’s results beyond its implementation period.<\/p>\n

2. Digital Innovation and Technology Solutions
\nTechnology demonstrations and discussions highlighted digital solutions introduced by Greenovator, including their potential applications in farm management, farmer record-keeping, agricultural advisory services, product traceability, and climate-smart agriculture. These innovations demonstrated how appropriate digital technologies can improve agricultural management, strengthen information access, and support evidence-based decision-making among farmers and agricultural cooperatives.<\/p>\n

3. Farmers’ and Agricultural Cooperatives’ Experiences
\nKrang Leav Samaky Agricultural Cooperative shared practical experiences and lessons from adopting digital technologies in its operations and agricultural business activities. Discussions focused on technology adoption, the role of DAAs, service sustainability, market opportunities, and challenges faced by farmers and cooperatives in accessing and applying digital solutions.
\n4. The Way Forward: Institutionalising Digital Agricultural Services
\nA key focus of the workshop was identifying practical approaches to ensure the continuity of digital services beyond project support. Participants discussed recommendations, potential institutional focal points, partnership arrangements, capacity development needs, and short-term actions to strengthen ownership and integrate digital services into regular agricultural cooperative operations.<\/p>\n

High-Level Participation and Strategic Commitment
\nThe workshop was honoured by the participation of H.E. Dr. Meas Piseth, Secretary of State of MAFF and National Project Director of ASPIRE-AT, and Mr. Frew Behabtu, IFAD Country Director and Representative in Cambodia.<\/p>\n

The discussions reinforced the need to move beyond introducing digital technologies towards establishing practical service delivery mechanisms that agricultural cooperatives can manage, access, and sustain in the long term.<\/p>\n

Moving Forward: From Project Pilots to Sustainable Cooperative Services
\nThe consultation reaffirmed that the sustainability and scaling up of digital agriculture require more than technology adoption. They depend on strong agricultural cooperatives, capable local digital service providers, continuous technical support, appropriate financing and business models, and effective collaboration among government institutions, technology providers, farmers, and development partners.<\/p>\n

In particular, strengthening the capacities and roles of DAAs, promoting cooperative ownership, and developing affordable and demand-driven digital services will be essential to ensuring that digital solutions respond to farmers’ actual needs and remain accessible beyond the project period.<\/p>\n

CamboDHRRA remains committed to facilitating multi-stakeholder partnerships, strengthening agricultural cooperative capacities, and promoting inclusive digital transformation to improve smallholder farmers’ productivity, market access, business performance, and resilience.<\/p>\n

The SEEDS experience provides a valuable foundation for advancing the next phase of digital agriculture in Cambodia where agricultural cooperatives become not only users of digital technologies but also active institutional platforms for delivering and sustaining digital services for their farmer members.
