With the generous support of IFAD, MAFRA, and AsiaDHRRA, CamboDHRRA successfully hosted a Human-Centered Design (HCD) training workshop for 11 agritech startups dedicated to empowering smallholder farmers through digital innovation. A total of 29 participants took part in this impactful training.
The workshop placed smallholder farmers at the heart of the innovation process—ensuring that new tools and services are designed with a deep understanding of their needs, experiences, and daily realities. Through interactive and practical sessions, the startups gained valuable skills in empathy-building, identifying digital adoption barriers, and co-creating meaningful solutions with farmers.
🎯 Key Workshop Highlights:
✅ Participatory sessions with farmers to understand their farming practices, digital behaviors, and decision-making
✅ Exploration of key challenges such as limited internet access, trust in digital tools, and digital literacy gaps
✅ Co-design of practical prototypes and ideas aligned with local farming cycles and contexts
✅ Strong emphasis on inclusivity, gender responsiveness, and local ownership in agritech development
This training is part of a larger effort to foster sustainable, inclusive, and farmer-centered innovation in Cambodia’s agriculture sector. By equipping startups with HCD tools and approaches, we are strengthening the capacity of Cambodia’s agritech ecosystem to deliver impactful, relevant, and scalable solutions.
