From 28 to 31 July 2025, CamboDHRRA, in collaboration with the Cambodia RAI Alliance partners and with the support of MRLG Phase 3, AsiaDHRRA, and the World Rural Forum (WRF), successfully organized a Learning Exchange Visit on Contract Farming and Agricultural Cooperative, and Modern Cooperative Development in Battambang and Siem Reap provinces.
The four-day exchange brought together 30 participants, including representatives of agricultural cooperatives, agribusiness actors and civil society organizations, with at least 40% women and youth represented.
Key highlights included:
-
Field visits to AMRU Rice Mill, Battambang Union of Agricultural Cooperatives (UAC), Tasei Samaky Agricultural Cooperative, Neang Am Modern Agricultural Cooperative (MAC) and Safe Vegetable Agricultural Cooperative.
-
Dialogues with government representatives from the Provincial Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (PDAFF) in Battambang on policies and support for cooperative and contract farming.
-
Peer-to-peer exchanges with cooperative leaders, private sector actors, and agribusiness partners.
-
Facilitated learning and reflection sessions that synthesized lessons and developed action points for replication and policy recommendations.
-
Solidarity dinner and certificate distribution, celebrating the collective learning and commitment of participants.
Through this exchange, participants deepened their understanding of inclusive contract farming models, cooperative governance, and gender-sensitive value chain development. The visit also strengthened collaboration between farmer groups, civil society, private sector actors, and government stakeholders, fostering momentum for advancing sustainable agricultural cooperative development in Cambodia.
CamboDHRRA extends its gratitude to all partners and participants for making this activity a success. The insights and recommendations generated will serve as valuable inputs for strengthening Cambodia’s cooperative and contract farming frameworks.
