CamboDHRRA Facilitates Women in Agribusiness Network (WAN) Participation in Contract Farming Workshop

On November 1, 2024, CamboDHRRA facilitated the participation of representatives from the Women in Agribusiness Network (WAN) in a discussion workshop on contract farming. Organized by Oxfam in Cambodia with support from MRLG, the workshop—titled “Views of Company Producers, Groups, and Stakeholders on Contract Farming Practices”—gathered key stakeholders, including agricultural cooperatives, companies, provincial Departments of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, and NGOs.
Participants shared valuable experiences and challenges related to contract farming in Cambodia, discussing issues such as the absence of mutual agreements, limited understanding of contract farming concepts, and inadequate stakeholder participation in contract farming implementation. The workshop led to recommendations for strengthening legislation, with a focus on fairness and transparency between producers and buyers.
The event featured expert case studies and group discussions, concentrating on conflict resolution and effective implementation strategies for the forthcoming contract farming law.
