From March 9 to 15, 2025, Mr. Him Noeun, Secretary General of CamboDHRRA, participated in a study visit on Contract Farming and Agricultural Cooperative Development in Yunnan Province, China. The program was organized by the Mekong Region Land Governance Project (MRLG) in collaboration with Transformative Land Investment (TLI), which brought together policymakers, experts, and practitioners from Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and Myanmar.
The visit provided a unique opportunity for delegates to:
✅ Learn about good practices on contract farming, Agricultural Cooperative, and adaptive farming models.
✅ Engage with Chinese government agencies and agribusinesses to explore policies and investment incentives that promote smallholder-friendly agricultural development.
✅ Analyze policy frameworks that support responsible and sustainable investment in agriculture, especially in land management and market integration.
✅ Exchange knowledge with experts from Kunming Institute of Botany – Chinese Academy of Sciences, who shared insights on land tenure security, cooperative models, and rural economic transformation.
This study visit is important for shaping Cambodia’s policy direction in investing in agriculture, especially in strengthening contract farming laws and Modern Agricultural Cooperative, which are key priorities for promoting sustainable rural development.
🤝 CamboDHRRA remains committed to engaging in policy dialogues for policies that empower smallholder farmers, enhance women’s participation in agriculture, and ensure inclusive and sustainable growth in Cambodia’s agriculture sector.
