BIO of EXPERTS

CHAY CHIM, Ph.D.
Expertise: Food Product Development and Food Quality and Safety
Vice Dean of Faculty of Agro-Industry
Royal University of Agriculture (RUA), Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Dr. Chay’s research interest in food product development, food microbiology, and food safety and quality stems from his desire to use knowledge to promote food quality and safety in Cambodia. He finished his Bachelors in 2006 and Master’s degrees in 2019 from the Royal University of Agriculture (RUA) and was appointed as lecturer and research assistant immediately after graduation. After three years working as lecturer and research assistant, Dr. Chay was awarded a scholarship by the SEARCA to pursue the PhD degree in Food Science and minor in Food Nutrition at the University of the Philippines Los Baños in the Philippines in 2015. After completing his PhD, he was appointed as researcher and lecturer at Royal University of Agriculture. Dr. Chay has extensive experience in food product development, food microbiology, food safety and quality. In the past few years, he has demonstrated his talent in developing high-quality traditional rice liquor to increase productivity and improve quality. In currently research, he has experience in screening, isolating and identifying the mold, yeast and bacteria from Cambodian starter culture, and food fermentation, food product development and microbiological hazard in food.

 

KEP BUNLY, Ph.D.
Expertise: Leadership and Management

Dr. Kep Bunly: He holds a PhD degree in Leadership from the Pannasastra University of Cambodia. He has extensive experience in conducting evaluation and research regarding older people care, leadership and management, market value chain, gender scoping study to enhance development in responsible agricultural investment, organizational development, agricultural scoping study in Cambodia, study on concerns/needs and social protection among older people in Cambodia. In addition, he has eight years of experience in providing adult education to university students. He facilitates the development of cooperative and producer group including linking them to market.

 

 

 

 

HIM NOEUN
Expertise: Agri-business and Leadership and Management
Secretary General, CamboDHRRA 

Mr. Him Noeun has a long-term experience in facilitating/providing training especially on topics like leadership and management, community development, resource mobilization, agri-business, contract farming, organic standard, project management, business management and constructive dialogue. From 2005 to mid-2020, he worked for NGOs such as CEDAC, IIRR and FNN. He previously served as a Program Officer, PADEE project financial literacy training coordinator, Program Manager for the Cambodian Smallholder Agricultural Insurance Scheme.  He is the focal person on youth and responsible agriculture investment in Cambodia, a project of AsiaDHRRA in partnership with FAO. He is currently the Secretary General of CamboDHRRA. He holds a Master’s degree in Development Studies and a Bachelor’s Degree in Agro-Industry.

 

 

CHHONG SOPHAL
Expertise: Crop Production and Agricultural Cooperative Development

Mr. Chhong Sophal graduated Bachelor Degree in Agricultural Technology at Royal University of Agriculture (RUA). He has more than 20 years’ experience in providing training workshop to farmers on sustainable agriculture, including chicken raising, vegetable, organic rice and community-led businesses / agricultural cooperatives, leadership and management, contract farming and organic standard certification. From 2009 to 2019, he worked for NGOs such as, PADEK, CEDAC and FNN.

 

 

 

UNG VUTHY
Expertise: Agricultural Technology and Management
Business Development Officer, FNN

Mr. Ung Vuthy: Mr. Ung Vuthy is a graduate of Bachelor Degree in Agriculture, Major in Agricultural Technology. He is member of Management Faculty (ATM) at Royal University of Agriculture (RUA). He has more than 10 years’ experience in organizing training workshop to farmers on sustainable agriculture, including chicken raising and community-led businesses / agricultural cooperatives, leadership and management, contract farming and organic standard certification. From 2008 to 2019, he worked for NGOs such as CEDAC, IVY and COrAA.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

MOM CHANTHA
Expertise: Development Management
Programme Coordinator, CamboDHRRA

Mr. Mom Chantha: He graduated from Norton University in 2013 with a master’s degree of Development Management. His experience revolved around rural development and community development particularly on capacity development of community-based organization (CBO), establishment of community forestry (CF), agricultural cooperatives (ACs) and farmer producer groups (FPG) that are involved in pig, chicken, frog, vegetable, orange, dragon fruit and bee keeping. He started working with NGO and INGO since 2010. He organized various training workshop for CBO members on communication, management and leadership, financial management, business and entrepreneurship, business planning, marketing strategies, value chain analysis (VCA). He assisted ACs and provincial department of agriculture, forestry and fishery (PDAFF) of Stung Treng province to conduct contract farming of cashew nut with Korean company of G-farm Lao in Lao country.

VORN SAMPHORS
Expertise: Young Agri-Entrepreneur

Mr. Vorn Samphors graduated Bachelor Degree in Agronomy at Royal University of Agriculture (RUA) and used to be a candidate for a one-year internship in Israel in 2015-2016. He has 2 years’ work experience in project assistant at irrigation System Company (Netafim). From 2019-present he start up his own business by selling agricultural product and installing irrigation systems on client farms. He is also a representative of the Young Agri-Entrepreneur Organized by Farmer and Nature Net Association (FNN) in cooperative with CambDHRRA, which is actively working with youth        networks from five provinces in Cambodia.

 

 

 

 

Ms. YOUN SENGHOR
Expertise: Youth and Gender

Ms. Senghor is a program manager of Livelihood and Food Security in AFD. With her 13 years of experience working for local NGOs in the fields of Women’s Rights, Education, Maternal and Child Health, WASH, Agriculture, Community Mobilisation, Economic Development, Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaption, Natural Resources and Biodiversity Conservation, and Gender, she has advanced multi-skill expertise and become Program Manager and Key focal pion on Gender in AFD. Senghor is a part of CamboDHRRA team in implementing of project namely “Strengthening youth and women carry and benefit from Responsible Agriculture Investment (RAI)” as Youth and Gender Expert.Her education background in Bachelor Degree Business Management and Economic in Management at CUS University Kampong Thom Province, Cambodia and Graduated Bachelor Degree of Accounting at Angkor City Institute, Kampong Thom Province.Last but not least, Ms. Senghor is a highly qualified trainer providing practical, effective training courses on Agriculture sector including Chicken and Vegetable technique, Gender Action Learning System, Climate change adaptation and Entrepreneurship with Agricultural Cooperative and other community in AFD target area.
