……………………………………….
CamboDHRRA in collaboration with Action For the Development (#AFD-Cambodia) organized roundtable discussion (RTD) to present and share the result of case study on Integrated Farming System Practices of small-scale farmers in Kampong Thom province.
The objectives of this activity are to:
a). Share the findings of the case study with a wider stakeholder to develop an appreciation of the best agricultural practices in the study site that can be improved, adapted, and scaled out
b). Gather feedback from stakeholders on the findings, and gather their views on how to ensure alignment with the dimensions of agroecology (10 elements and 13 principles) that can be built by the primary internal stakeholders of the agroecology practice
c). Discuss the implications of the findings for future research and program, and policy development to enhance the agroecology practices’ contributions to achieving sustainable agri-food systems
It is noted that a case study of agroecology practices by smallholders under the project, Farmer Organizations’ Leading Research and Innovation of Agroecology for Sustainable Food Systems (FORI) led by AsiaDHRRA and was conducted by CamboDHRRA in collaboration with Action For the Development (AFD) in Kampong Thom province. This case study aims to document, analyze, and present the principles, practices, and processes of representative agroecological areas toward greater recognition of agroecology across the levels of agri-food systems.
An agri-food system is a complex network of interconnected actors and activities that are involved in the production, processing, distribution, marketing, and consumption of food. It includes all people, organizations, and institutions working in agriculture, food processing, food retail and distribution, as well as other activities. There are several things that can be done to make agri-food systems more sustainable, which can be contributed by agroecology practices.
